Project Your GPA

Wichita State University (WSU) offers a GPA calculator. This calculator projects what grades you need to earn to improve your gpa. For example, if you want to earn a 2.5 cumulative gpa, and you currently have a 2.0, you would put the information into the calculator and it would tell you what grades you need to earn to get a 2.5 cumulative gpa. Please note, it does not take into account retaken courses. Therefore, when using the WSU calculator it will not give you a true calculation if you have retaken any courses.

Manual GPA Calculation

To manually calculate your cumulative GPA, start by taking your total quality points and dividing it by your total GPA hours. (Found in PatriotWeb) To add quality points and credits in progress, use the chart below. (Your projected grades corresponding quality points times the credit hours of that class).

Grade Quality Points GPA Hours
A 4.00 x Credit Hours
A- 3.67 x Credit Hours
B+ 3.33 x Credit Hours
B 3.00 x Credit Hours
B- 2.67 x Credit Hours
C+ 2.33 x Credit Hours
C 2.00 x Credit Hours
C- 1.67 x Credit Hours
D 1.00 x Credit Hours
F 0.00 x Credit Hours

EXAMPLE: Econ 103 (3 credits) with a grade of "B" would be 3 credit hours x 3 quality points = 9 quality points. Add all of the new quality points and new GPA hours to the total and re-calculate the cumulative GPA. Note that with repeated courses, only the last attempt gets added to your GPA hour total.
