Lubna is one of our Exploratory Academic Advisors. Supporting students with their own journey through college is near and dear to Lubna. She had a wonderful Academic Advisor in undergrad who inspired her to venture into the realm of higher education as a career. Lubna attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a minor in Religious Studies. Post graduation, she worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Religious Studies Department at VCU. Lubna then came to George Mason University to pursue her Masters in Higher Education with a focus on Student Affairs. As a graduate student, Lubna held a Graduate Assistantship with Disability Services and worked with MASI (Mason Autism Support Initiative) as a Learning Strategist providing coaching to students in the program.

After receiving her Masters, Lubna started working with the Mason Care Network as an Academic Advisor for undeclared/exploratory students. Lubna also supported students struggling academically; following a holistic model – providing advising and coaching for students who were redirected from their programs as well as students facing academic probation or suspension.

Lubna then completed her coaching certification through Inside Track and worked as a Student Success Coach with the Student Success Coaching unit. Lubna worked 1:1 with students to ensure that they felt acclimated to the GMU campus and that they felt they had the support network in place to help them be successful in their journey to graduation.

Lubna enjoys each conversation she has with the students she meets and wants to create a safe space for encouragement, inspiration, and guidance. She likes that she can be a part of students’ college experience while also seeing them thrive and create their very own Mason story.
