The inaugural Mason Advising Symposium is open to all George Mason University staff, faculty, and graduate assistants. This symposium aims to provide attendees with an opportunity to explore what it means to be an academic advisor at Mason, the diverse facets of advising at Mason, and what our campus partners want advisors to know.
The symposium will commence with opening remarks delivered by the newly appointed Associate Provost, Dr. Keith Renshaw. Additionally, there will be a luncheon where we will proudly present the annual advisor awards, along with raffle prizes for early registrants. Throughout the day, attendees will have the chance to participate in various sessions dedicated to fostering knowledge acquisition, networking, and collaboration.
The Mason Advising Symposium aims to provide advisors and our colleagues opportunities for:
- Fostering professional development
- Engaging with campus partners
- Establishing and maintaining rapport with students
- Collaborating with other advisors and building community
- Expanding knowledge of innovation and technology
- Enhancing wellness
