Office of Academic Advising

The Office of Academic Advising is within Undergraduate Education, Office of the Provost.  We provide comprehensive leadership for a consistent, equitable and quality undergraduate academic advising experience at George Mason University.  Our office is responsible for advocacy and overall accountability for the undergraduate advising experience. This is achieved through collaboration with leadership in academic units across the university and other stakeholders to provide consistent administration of academic advising processes, procedures, and policies for undergraduate academic advising. Advising program evaluation and advisor professional development are central to the administrative charge of our office to determine data-driven best practices and advising program improvement. We provide direct advising services for Pre-Health, Exploratory, Non-Degree and undergraduate students terminated from their major. We are located in the Johnson Center, Suite 228 and can be reached at

Office of Academic Advising Student Services

The Office of Academic Advising houses and administers centralized advising services for Pre-Health, Exploratory and Non-Degree undergraduate students.  In addition, students who are terminated from their major are also assigned to this office.  These students are assigned academic advisors who are trained specifically to assist students with a consistent and quality advising experience as they explore academic majors and minors, pre-health paths and eventually transition to advising within an academic unit once a major is declared.  In addition, the Office of Academic Advising collaborates with the pre-law advisor who is housed in the Schar School of Policy and Government.
