Patrick Brame joins George Mason University as an Exploratory Academic Advisor with a strong background in student success and higher education instruction. He earned his Ph.D. in Media Studies from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where his research explored twentieth-century American film spectatorship and its intersections with gender, class, and domestic culture. Patrick holds extensive experience teaching courses in media, communication, and writing, including Introduction to Media and Communication Studies, Film History, and College Writing & Rhetoric.
Before coming to George Mason, Patrick served as an Academic Coach at The Catholic University of America, providing individualized, strengths-based support to a diverse student population. His evidence-based interventions resulted in high improvement rates and helped nearly half of his students successfully exit academic probation. Patrick’s approach to advising is rooted in collaboration, motivational interviewing, and holistic support. He strives to create an environment where every student feels empowered to define and pursue their own version of success.
Outside of work, Patrick enjoys building intricate Lego sets, gaming, catching the latest movies on the big screen, and watching football on the weekends. He also loves hiking and exploring new restaurants with his wife. Originally from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Patrick brings a deep commitment to fostering student growth, retention, and long-term achievement.
